Suggested Itinerary
day 1
Nairobi to Amboseli National Park
- Morning: Depart Nairobi and drive to Amboseli National Park (approx. 4-5 hours). Enjoy scenic views of Mt. Kilimanjaro along the way.
- Late Morning: Arrive at Amboseli, check into your lodge or camp, and settle in.
- Afternoon: After lunch, head out for an afternoon game drive. Amboseli is renowned for its large herds of elephants and iconic views of Mt. Kilimanjaro, offering great photo opportunities.
- Evening: Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
day 2
Amboseli to Samburu National Reserve
- Early Morning: Enjoy a sunrise game drive for a chance to spot predators like lions and cheetahs.
- Late Morning: After breakfast, depart Amboseli and fly/drive to Samburu National Reserve (approx. 6-7 hours). Samburu is home to unique species such as Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and reticulated giraffes.
- Late Afternoon: Arrive in Samburu, check in, and head out for a brief evening game drive.
- Evening: Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
day 3
Samburu National Reserve
- Morning: Early morning game drive to explore the semi-arid landscape of Samburu. Search for wildlife unique to the region, including the “Samburu Special Five”: Beisa Oryx, Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, and gerenuk.
- Mid-Morning: Visit a Samburu village to learn about the local culture and traditions.
- Afternoon: After lunch, relax or head out for another game drive along the Ewaso Ng’iro River, where you can spot crocodiles, elephants, and other wildlife.
- Evening: Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
day 4
Samburu to Lake Nakuru National Park
- Morning: After breakfast, depart Samburu and drive towards the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park (approx. 6-7 hours).
- Afternoon: Arrive at Lake Nakuru in time for lunch, followed by a game drive. Lake Nakuru is known for its birdlife, especially flamingos and pelicans, and you may also spot rhinos, buffaloes, and tree-climbing lions.
- Evening: Return to your lodge/camp for dinner and overnight.
day 5
Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara National Reserve
- Morning: Early morning game drive along the shores of Lake Nakuru, then depart for the Masai Mara National Reserve (approx. 5-6 hours).
- Afternoon: Arrive in Masai Mara for lunch, then head out for an afternoon game drive. The Mara is known for its vast savannahs, rich wildlife, and the annual wildebeest migration (July to October).
- Evening: Return to the lodge/camp for dinner and overnight.
day 6
Masai Mara Full Day
- Morning & Afternoon: Full day of game drives exploring the Masai Mara. This day can be customized based on your interests, whether it’s seeking the “Big Five” (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino), witnessing the Great Migration (if in season), or visiting a Maasai village to experience their culture.
- Lunch: Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush or return to your lodge/camp for a meal.
- Evening: Optional hot air balloon safari at sunrise for a unique view of the Mara’s landscapes and wildlife (additional cost).
- Night: Dinner and overnight at your camp/lodge.
day 7
Masai Mara to Nairobi
- Morning: Early morning game drive to catch the last glimpses of wildlife.
- Mid-Morning: After breakfast, begin your journey back to Nairobi (approx. 5-6 hours).
- Late Afternoon: Arrive in Nairobi. Option for lunch at a local restaurant or a short Nairobi city tour before your departure.
